  Guidelines

We would like to make the farrier visit as pleasureable as possible, for the horse, client and ourselves. We have listed some guidelines in order to make this possible.

What You Can Expect From Us:

Integrity, Honesty and Professionalism.

On time for scheduled appointments.

We will endeavour to make contact if we are running late or early or if we need to change the appointment for any other reason.

We will endeavour to return all phone calls in a timely manner.

We practice to a high standard and engage in continuing education.

We will discuss shoeing requirements and advise of any additional cost prior to beginning work.

We will refer you to another equine professional, if we believe it will be in your horse's best interest.

We will treat you and your horse with respect.

Lost shoes will be replaced expediently where possible providing that it is within a suitable time frame, i.e.4 weeks. There is generally no charge for this service, however this is at our discretion. (Please note, horses shod with pads or therapeutic shoes and horses kept in an unsuitable environment, i.e. loose/inappropriate fencing (dog wire) and free access to dams/marshy paddocks is exempt from free shoe replacement.

What We Expect From You:

A sheltered, flat, level, well-lit working area must be provided.

The shoeing area must also be clear of obstacles and other distractions, which may be unsafe.

Dogs and children are to be kept well away from the shoeing area.

Access to water and electricity for shoeing.

We expect that horse will be caught and ready for us when we arrive.

We expect you do advise of any issues that may be relevant to farriery prior to commencement of service.

If the appointment is scheduled at feed time please have the horse fed prior to our arrival.

If the horse has a mate please have it in close proximity. If working on mares and foals please have both secured.

Please do not wash your horse immediately prior to our arrival.

We expect that your horse will be trained to stand for the farrier.  We are not trainers, nor do we wish to be.

We reserve the right to stop working at any time we feel it is becoming unsafe for either horse or farrier and may request sedation where required.
